Hello and welcome back to the Appliance Champion blog! On our blog, we cover all things relating to appliance repair and even talk a little about issues surrounding home maintenance. We think it’s a great thing when we hear about people DIY-ing their home maintenance and learning how to troubleshoot those issues that commonly arise as part of owning a home in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. However, we strongly discourage DIY-ing your appliance repairs. Why? There is so much that could go wrong and you will most likely spend more money on your appliance or may have to buy a new one when you may not have had to if you called the professionals. Today, we are going to talk about some general reasons why you should always call your local appliance repair experts.

6 Reasons You Should Call the Professionals

There are a lot of reasons why you might be considering DIY-ing your appliance repair: you think you will save money, you think you will be saving time, and maybe your ego is also involved. We get why you may try to fix your appliance but please don’t and here’s why.

Need Special Tools

As technology, in general, has advanced so has the technology in our appliances. In many, there are mini computers and electrical systems that need more care than what dishwashers, washing machines, and other appliances had in them 20 years ago. You also sometimes need special tools to learn what is even wrong with the appliance. If you don’t speak “error code” and the user’s manual doesn’t give any information, you need the special tool to interpret.

Must Have Experience

Having experience that only comes from working on broken or malfunctioning appliances every day is a must when fixing our most important home appliances. Experience can help diagnose issues before they even arise, see the root of the problems, and ascertain when to repair and when to replace. Often, those that don’t have experience, “fix” the problem, but only really apply a proverbial “band-aid” that won’t fix the real problem. Having a pro fix your refrigerator, dryer, or other appliance also allows you to learn more about taking care of your appliance. Sometimes a needed fix is a result of a simple change in maintenance that you may not know about unless a pro tells you.

Negate the Warranty

Not calling the pros could also negate the warranty which means that if your machine breaks or a part of it malfunctions before the warranty says it should, the manufacturer won’t fix it for you. This is a big problem. How so? It directly affects your bank account. When you could have enjoyed your appliance being fixed with no charge to you, you are not in a situation in which you have to foot the bill. When you have a factory-certified appliance repair professional work on your machine, your warranty will remain intact.

These are just a few reasons why you should call your local appliance repair specialist. Stay tuned for our next blog post to learn more!
